Grant Funding Brings Jimmy Santiago Baca to New Mexico School
Students in Renée Ochoa’s class at McKinley Middle School in Albuquerque, NM helped decide how the grant money should be spent. They asked their hero, Jimmy Santiago Baca to come to their class to read poems. They were also able to purchase a set of Mr. Baca’s anthologies, which he autographed and donated to the school library. Mr. Baca made a lasting impression on all of the students and teachers who were able to attend the reading and discussion.
