Grant Funds Used To Create Personal Poetry Anthologies
Carol Motz, Language Arts Teacher, at Owensville Community School in Owensville, IN used her grant to purchase poetry teaching materials and supplies for creating personal poetry anthologies. The students worked on writing different types of poetry each week, then combined copies of all their written poetry in a personal anthology. The poetry anthologies were then shared with parents and relatives at an Arts Expo/Open House at the school. The parents really enjoyed reading their children’s poems, and the students were very proud to share their anthologies with family members. Ms. Motz’s goal was to help her students learn to enjoy writing and reading poetry, and says, "I feel most of my students have gained a new appreciation for poetry."
