Plagiarism

In entering a poem, it is important that you understand the significance of plagiarism. Plagiarism is copying someone else's work and submitting it as your own. By sending in your poem you are stating that this poem is your original work. Our judges find numerous plagiarists each year. The situation becomes more serious if a poem that is not original does make it through the judges and is accepted to be published. With thousands of people reading our anthologies, we receive numerous letters informing us whenever a poet submitted a poem which was not original. In the past we have had poets who have sent in poems that they stated they wrote, only to find out later that the poem had been plagiarized. When this occurs to a young poet we then write to the poet's parents, their school and anyone involved informing them that a serious offense of dishonesty took place. If there is any doubt that the poem you are submitting is not written by you, then please do not enter the poem in our contest.
