Language Arts Grant Recipient
Grant money at Alta High School funds writers in residence program
Writers in Residence is a program in which local Utah writers come to
our school and explain to our student body what it takes to be a
writer. The students were given direct writing instructions from
a professional and received helpful criticism regarding their writing
in order to better themselves for the open world ahead. This year
20% of Alta High’s students benefited by the visit from local fiction
writer, Nick DeSpain, and local poet, Laura Scott. Because of
this grant, we were able to have two Writers in Residence this year
instead of one, which gave more students the opportunity to learn and
grow from that experience. Thank you Creative Communication!
