Grant money at Fieldcrest East Middle School funds poetry

With the 7th grade poetry unit kicking off, we have used our grant
towards the purchase of biographical videotapes on the lives of
poets. The students are often fascinated with different aspects
of poets’ lives but getting them interested in reading the information
can be challenging at times. With videotapes, the students are
able to absorb interesting facts. In addition, some of the funds
are also being used to expand the books of poetry in the library.
Thank you for awarding our school with the grant, more importantly,
thank you for offering the poetry contest to the students! It has
become quite a motivational tool in my classroom, and it has also
boosted the self-esteem of some challenged students in my class.
