money at Meadow Lane School funds poetry resource center
The
Meadow Lane School Poetry Resource Center is up and running! All
of us
at Meadow Lane thank you for making this possible. Our students
were
thrilled to learn that the poems they wrote were instrumental in
receiving this grant. Being a recipient of the grant has allowed
us to
purchase ten poetry books, an accompanying CD, two poetry videos,
poetry posters, tips for good writing posters, and binders to display
students’ work. Because of these resources, we have been able to
expand our poetry curriculum. Our students now have more
resources to
learn about various poets, diverse types of poetry, and different
styles of writing poems. In addition to teachers using these
resources
in their classrooms, students enjoy spending time at the Poetry
Resource Center. Students are learning poetry styles and writing
techniques. They are listening to poetry on a portable CD player,
writing their own poems and reading poems that they and others have
written.
The Creative Communication grant has motivated our students to want to become better writers. Thank you for this award and for the opportunities it provides!
