The Silver Snapper Dragon
I have the greatest backyard garden,
With tulips tall as trees.
From the shimmering sky shines down the sun,
And under backs the breeze.
But in my backyard garden grows the silver snapper dragon.
Its petals pricked with pointed teeth and stiff as stone its stem.
One day when tending to my tulips,
With the silver snapper near,
I noticed the brightest bunch of tulips
Seemed to disappear.
I tended to my tulips
At least two, three times a day.
But every time, some tulips had been taken--
Vanished, gone away.
One by one my flowers faded till what stood was one, tiny tulip.
But before I could salvage the fickle flower's life, the silver snapper dragon ate it up!
So as long as there is a flower near, or if the spring of a sprout began,
Never plant the smallest seed near the silver snapper dragon!
