Steps to My Dream

" I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am to you for accepting my poem. I have always wanted to be a poet, and I think this is one of the steps to my dream. I hope there will be many more steps, and I will be ready and willing to take them. I can also assure you that I will never stop writing about the things in life, the things I love, and the things I always will go through. "

Never Realized My Talent

" Last year, I was one of your winners in the poetry contest for young poets across North and South Carolina to have a chance for their poems to be published. I just wrote to thank you for that. Because of the encouragement of your company and my fifth grade teacher, I am planning to write a published book of my poems. If it wasn't for you, I would have never realized my talent of poetry "

Best News I've Ever Had

" Thank you so much for your letter. I just got it today. Wow! It is so cool that my poem will be published. I am going to take your letter to school tomorrow and show my teachers and friends. My mom's family had a relative lost on the Titanic. They were on their honeymoon, and the voyage was his gift to her. So my poem the "Titanic" is going to be published and it really makes it very special to my family and I. Thank you so very much. This is the best news I've ever had! "

Reveals Fears, Hopes, and Dreams

" I would like to thank you for publishing my poem. I am starting to get confidence that I can be someone and be a big help to certain people. I was reading one of the papers you sent and it was saying that the book reveals fears, hopes, and dreams. I am a big believer in all of those and I hope I can help lots of people with their fears, and help them accomplish their dreams. "

My Confidence Shot Right Up

" When I did get published, I was so happy and my confidence shot right up. I wanted that feeling of accomplishment again so I have entered your Fall contest this year, and even if I don't get published, I still feel that I have accomplished something to have that confidence. And I have already thanked my Language Arts Teacher and now I want to thank you. So thank you for giving me this feeling. "

My Dream to Be Published

" Thank you very much for choosing my poem as one of the top ten and thank you for putting my poem in the anthology. It was very generous of you, and I am planning on entering the poetry contest again next year. I've always loved writing, and I was extremely excited when I found out that I was a top ten winner. It had always been my dream to be a published writer, and thanks to you, I had a chance to have my dream come true. Thank you once more for publishing my poem and for the award. "

Bring Views into the Open

" I think that this is a good thing that you folks are doing something to bring views like mine into the open. It is sometimes hard to get people to take you seriously when you are only fifteen. Keep up the good work. "

Writing with a New Sense of Accomplishment

" Last year, my poem was chosen for publication in Celebration of Young Poets, and since then I have taken to writing poems with a new sense of accomplishment and fervor. I am delighted that you take the time to recognize the literary talents of America's youth. Thank you for your consideration and your patronage of the arts. "

Going to Work Extra Hard

" I can't wait to see my name in a book, and my family, friends, and relatives will be so proud of me. I always wanted to write my own book on poems and I'm really starting to. I hope to become a famous poet, because I love to write poems. Anyway, thanks for everything. Right when I saw the letter with the congratulations sign on the side, I burst into tears. I was so happy that I said to myself, "Hey, I just might be a good poet after all," and now I'm going to work extra hard on my poems. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to be in this book of poems. You really made me so ever happy! "

I Won't Ever Stop learning

" I would like to thank you for taking the time and reading what I wrote. I would also like to say that I know that I have a lot to learn and won't ever stop learning about poetry. I love all of my poems and I plan on writing until I leave this earth. When I wrote The Purpose of Memories, I felt that I could feel my best friend (who had died at the age of 17 in a car accident) right next to me. The poem still makes tears come to my eyes when I read it and I am ready to put all of my memories onto paper. Thanks for this awesome opportunity to enter the contest. I am deeply moved by it. "
